Akaal Skills Development Academy (ASDA), formerly Akaal Fashion College, was carved out of Akaal Dékor Company Limited, established in 1998 as a textile and garment manufacturing company. The College was established in 2017 to provide industry-led vocational training, producing skilled labour to feed Akaal Dékor Limited and Ghana's wider fashion industry.
In July 2020, the College was renamed Akaal Skills Development Academy to introduce new programmes — plumbing and electrical — meeting growing demand for skilled labour and creating equal opportunities across genders.
ASDA is registered with the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) as a training provider (since 2018), and holds a five-year programme accreditation to run garment training using Competency-Based Training (CBT) as its instructional mode. Following the 2021 introduction of plumbing and electrical programmes, ASDA developed a five-year strategic plan (2022–2026) to guide CBT implementation, budgeting, and evaluation across all programmes.
